When we join forces with our medical partner Sanitas Medical Centers our impact spreads far and wide across the diverse communities of Texas.
Most of the time, this means providing childhood immunizations and other preventive health care services to native Texans. However, we recently had the opportunity to reach a refugee population in the Houston area through several events with The Alliance and YMCA Houston.
Most of these families had to flee countries in crisis such as Afghanistan and Rwanda with no medical records. Even for adult refugees, this means starting the vaccination schedule from the beginning to ensure immunization from various diseases. We were approached by the U.S. Public Health Service to provide our support at these events as we have the resources, staff, and partners to make it happen.
Vaccination is one of the most direct and simple ways to keep communities healthy.
In August alone we provided 427 vaccines to 94 children with The Alliance. Through partnerships, sponsors, and donations The Care Van ® program, offers healthcare at no cost.
We’d like to give big thanks to our amazing partners mentioned, including Jessica Murad, Head Nurse for Care Van Houston. We applaud the difference you’re making in Houston and beyond!
