About the Foundation
Many families across Texas face barriers to securing preventive healthcare they need. These barriers include, but are not limited to, cost, transportation, and time. A disproportionately large part of the population affected are women and children.
The Caring Foundation of Texas removes these barriers by partnering with organizations, schools, non-profits, and government agencies to move medical providers into communities where there is a need. This makes it possible for many adults and children to receive necessary preventive care to live a happy, healthy life.
All services provided by the Texas Care Van program are at no cost to those who qualify.
Initiatives
Immunization Care Vans
Immunizations provide protection from preventable diseases. Millions of children go without the CDC recommended vaccines due to cost and lack of access to health care. We work with schools, churches, and other organizations to provide community-based immunization clinics.
Preventive Screening Care Vans
There are a variety of reasons why people may not seek a provider for routine health screenings, causing them to miss out on vital disease prevention education. The Care Van Program works with schools to put students and providers right into the communities to fill this gap.
Dental Care Vans
Some families do not have the means to access routine dental care which can result in tooth decay, gum disease, severe pain and missing permanent teeth. The Dental Care Vans bring free oral care to Texas Families in need.
Kidney Care Vans
More than 11% of Texans are diabetic, leading to high rates of Chronic Kidney Disease. With the help of the National Kidney Foundation, Kidney Care Vans provide screenings to identify risk, and important education on taking care of your kidneys.
