August marked National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM), a time dedicated to highlighting vaccines’ critical role in protecting our health. Immunizations are a significant public health achievement worth celebrating as they prevent millions of cases of diseases and save countless lives.
Our two Care Van at School partners, Irving and Plano ISDs, helped spread the word about NIAM to their district families and, in doing so, made a difference for students! During August, Irving ISD provided services to 483 students, with 1,141 vaccinations given. Plano ISD provided services to 345 students, with 1,002 vaccines administered. These were record-breaking months for both programs.
CareVan@School is The Caring Foundation of Texas’ initiative to reduce barriers to preventive health care, like immunizations, by bringing those services right to the source: school. Since 1991, The Caring Foundation of Texas has administered 1.4 immunizations statewide with a value of care of $108 million.
This partnership’s success with Irving and Plano ISD is paving the way for growth. The Caring Foundation of Texas looks forward to expanding this program to serve more students and ensure protection from deadly diseases.
